And so begins another week of doing positively nothing, other than sleeping, resting, eating good food and exploring the second largest Gili island – Gili Air. Gili Air is a wonderful mix of the quiet, laidback Meno and the bustling, party island that is Trawangan and by far, my favourite. Gili Air takes just 2 hours to walk around and is home to boutique shops, quiet lanes, beautiful beaches and restaurants a plenty – to match every budget too.

Favourite Cheap eat: Burger Lady. Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng are delicious and not too oily whilst the Chicken Club Sandwich is to die for and only 30K!!!

Gili Air has been a safe haven for me to sit back and reflect on all we have witnessed and experienced in the last 5 months of chasing the sun, moon and stars around the world. Whilst my diet is better, stress is less and my body (fingers crossed) is behaving, it is really time to start investing in good habits that I can carry forward (again, fingers crossed) once back on UK soil next year. So, I invested in a metal straw – say no to plastic straws – and booked myself onto a 3 hour Beginners Yoga program @ H20 Yoga. Luckily for me, I was the only soul that turned up so enjoyed 3 hours of personal tuition from Terri on the history of yoga, breathing techniques and the correct alignment during sun salutations, standing, seated and twisted poses. Despite having ‘practised’ a bit of basic yoga on my night shift breaks at work (with the help of youtube), Id never really known much about the history and had always struggled to remember to breath when focusing all my attention on the positions. The beginners workshop at H20 Yoga was therefore incredibly informative and helped me to focus my breathing as well as highlighting its importance within the body and yoga. The water inspired yoga session late friday afternoon, complete with Tibetan singing bowls, was the perfect, albeit sweaty, way to end a wonderful week on Gili Air.
I then totally treated myself to an hours long Balinese full body massage because, you know, why not??
Dave calls it transitioning from my corporate life to my wellness life… I most certainly feel well! 🙂
Dave and I spent most days snorkelling at Nemo City, just off Gili Air and although we didn’t see any turtles this time, we were lucky to catch a glimpse of the batfish as well as cowfish and unicorn fish! We were also gifted (I say gifted, it was actually thrown at daves head…) a pain au chocolate by a local fisherman, totally unsure as to why. It wasnt until we broke small pieces off and let them go into the water that we discovered why it was a gift – SO many fish surrounded us, eager to have a bite of what we had to offer. What a remarkable experience!
We also thoroughly enjoyed just chilling on the beach…

We have enjoyed watching many beautiful sunsets, with a beer in hand..

And spent many an evening chilling with the absolute babes working @ 10 Reggae Bar, being fed endless popcorn and pineapple! “Rasta Lady! Rasta Power!”

Finally, the many words of wisdom from the magnificent Gili Air, seen on our 2 hour walk around the island, one blissfully, sunny morning.

Where to next, bub?
